VZ Grips Brand History

Founded in 1994 by Dan Burwell, VZ Grips originated from a hobby of crafting custom grip panels for 1911 pistols from his Virginia garage. Frustrated by the uncomfortable grip angles of firearms, Burwell created thinner, more ergonomic grips for himself using G10 and Micarta. As local shooting enthusiasts took notice and demand grew, he founded Virginia Grips, later rebranded VZ Grips as orders scaled.

Early successes in outfitting regional law enforcement and military with enhanced grip ergonomics put VZ on the map while allowing the focus to expand into grip lines for revolvers, pistols, rifles, shotguns, and knives. VZ pioneered intricately CNC machined, hand-finished G10 grips with patented textures enhancing weapon retention, recoil control, and all-weather performance.

Today, VZ Grips veteran-owned shop of master artisans continues handcrafting industry-leading firearms and knife grips, setting the bar for quality, beauty, and durability. With an ever-expanding catalog spanning grip designs and rail accessories, their U.S. operations fuel growth as highly sought-after custom works.
